Russell-Galliano Exchange Nuptials at Sacred Heart
Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morgan City was the setting
February 14 for the 7 p.m. double-ring ceremony uniting Melanie Frances Russell
and Clinton Patrick Galliano in holy matrimony. The Rev. Sabino Rebosura
II officiated the candlelight nuptials
The bride is the daughter of Jack E. Russell and Joyce B.
Russell of Morgan City. The groom is the son of the late Daniel Galliano
and the late Jo Ann Cheramie.
For the ceremony, the sanctuary decor included center aisle
candelabra with floating red candles, white tulle drape, and accents of white
roses, lilies and ivy. Two large bouquets of white mixed flowers adorned
the alter and several large potted plants graced the sanctuary.
Music was by organist Lee LeBlanc and vocalist Christopher
Rhodes.
Ceremonial readings were by Katha Goree, cousin of the bride,
and Linda Baudoin, aunt of the groom. Offertory gifts were presented by
Marian Jones, aunt of the bride, and Andrew Jones, godfather of the bride.
Escorted in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white
gown designed with a short-sleeve, off the shoulder corset bodice embellished
with beading, embroidery and pearls. The silk organza ball gown skirt was
accented with satin ribbon and Venise lace edging on the hem. A
handkerchief belonging to the groom's mother was pinned inside the gown.
Her two-tiered veil of elbow-length illusion was finished
with a pencil edge and held by a silver and rhinestone triple-heart tiara.
She carried a bouquet of red and pink velvet roses hand-tied
with a sheer red ribbon. Entwined in the bouquet was her grandmother's
crystal rosary.
Cherie Duhon was matron of honor. She wore a sleeveless
satin top over a slim formal-length skirt complimented by a shoulder wrap in
apple red. Her bouquet was of red, pink, and white velvet roses hand-tied
with sheer ribbon.
Opal Foshee, cousin of the groom, was bridesmaid. Her
sleeveless A-line satin gown was formal length and was the same color as the
matron of honor. She carried a matching bouquet.
Emily Durocher served as flower girl.
Michael Hartman attended the groom as best man. Jeffery
Daigle was groomsman.
Ushering guests were Michael Hudson and Issac Swearengin.
For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Russell wore a mauve sheath
of formal-length crepe topped with a matching fitted jacket adorned with a
scalloped edge embellished with tonal embroidery and pearl beads. Her
corsage of white roses was finished with silver ribbon.
A reception followed at the Holiday Inn in Morgan City.
The banquet room was decorated with red and white rose and
ivy candle rings, glass globes with red candles, heart confetti, and Valentine
conversation hearts.
Backdrop for the bride's table was two, large lighted columns
topped with ferns. Draped fabric enhanced large double hearts entwined
with white lights, red tulle, and white roses.
Large bouquets of white roses, lilies, gardenias, and ivy
surrounded the cake table. Silver candelabra and red tulle swags adorned
the bride's table.
Main attraction of the bride's table was the three-tiered,
white wedding cake decorated with red roses and a ceramic bride and groom cake
topper.
The groom's chocolate cake was a two layered sheet cake iced
in chocolate and decorated with chocolate-dipped strawberries.
Helping with hospitalities were Donna Gaylor, godmother of
the bride, and Lois Kay Delaughter, godmother of the groom
Prior to the wedding, the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner at
Ryan's in Bayou Vista.
Prenuptial parties included a bridal shower hosted by the
bride's godmother and cousins.
The bride is a 1990 graduate of Morgan City High School and
attended Nicholls State University. She is a 1994 graduate of Louisiana
Technical College, Young Memorial Campus. She is employed by Seacor Marine
in Patterson.
The groom is a 1986 graduate of South Lafourche High School
and attended NSU. He is employed by Halliburton/Baroid of New Orleans.
They took a honeymoon cruise to Jamaica, Grand Caymen, and
Cozumel, and now reside in Thibodaux.
